Spore Counts We update this page weekly with spore count information from around the district as it comes to hand. Be sure to check here often over the summer.
Afternoon all,
We have counted several grass samples this week with relatively low spore levels.
5-30,000 yet it was only last week that we had 130,000. So I am very reluctant to say you can stop preventative measure's especially since the rain in the last few days as been very warm and as the following quote says
"Preventative treatment should still be continued in areas still experiencing moderate to high counts (Maungaturoto, Hauraki Plains, Raglan, Kaikohe and Waipa). Grass growth has slowed in some regions so stock are grazing closer to the ground where there could still be viable spores lurking." Which has been taken from the lastest Lab report from Gribbles. Interestingly though we are still seeing clinical cases in the field which are from spores previously ingested, say in the last 3-4 weeks. Mandersons mix, Liver X and Time Capsules are all good options for these cattle. Once again we have the Helicopters and ground sprayers organised to spray your properties, if you would like to discuss this further please contact John at Edgecumbe, or check out the following link: http://www.ravensdown.co.nz/Products/Animal+Health/FacialEczema/Mycotak.htm
